Endometriosis is not just painful periods. It is a system's disease. Immune, hormonal, vascular, neurological, metabolic, and inflammatory. It exists on a spectrum that includes adenomyosis. This is why symptoms vary so wildly, from bowel pain and migraines to crushing fatigue and infertility. Traditional medicine asks, how do we suppress the cycle or remove what we see? But surgery and hormones are not the whole answer. Because endometriosis is not only what you can cut out. If the immune system is inflamed and the nerves sensitized, the body is still screaming.
Stage tells you what can be seen, not what the system is doing. Think of endometriosis like a shoelace. The shoelace is the biological program. Genes, inflammation, and nerves are all woven into that lace. Where the lace gets pulled determines the symptom pattern. Pull the hormone side for progesterone resistance. Pull the nerve side for widespread pain. Pull the uterine side for adenomyosis. Future of care cannot be one prescription. It has to be phenotype recognition. We aren't treating random symptoms. We are treating a system.
The question is no longer, is it just cramps? Rather, the question should be, which part of the disease network is activated? And how do we support the whole body while targeting the disease at its root?
